Bot’s Bases (mostly) in the Galactic Hub

There are some parts of No Man’s Sky that require having a base.  This kind of runs contrary to the original “purpose” in the game – to make it to the Center of the Galaxy.  However, a large portion of the player base doesn’t bother to move on, and instead choose to settle down on some planet they’ve stumbled across and build a base.  I’ve got six at this time, and I usually try to keep my base count low, only keeping a base if it has some (preferably not duplicated at another base) purpose.  Here they are.  Portal coordinates for the planets each base is on are provided in the base screenshots; all system/planet names are from the PS4 instance.

System: [HUB1-AA] Pavlov

I have three bases in Pavlov, and you could view it as my “home” system.

Sky Farm/Under Farm (Noverh XIX)

Sky Farm/Under Farm

Sky Farm has moved many times, be it because the Galactic Hub moved, or an update has changed the colors, terrain, or weather.  Sky Farm will always be out over the water, on a planet with a blue sky, blue water, and green grass.  A recent change in the underwater section of the base has combined Sky Farm with Under Farm.

Sky Farm/Under Farm‘s purpose is to build the items for Fusion Ignitors or Stasis Chambers that can be built with plants.  To that end, the 36 biodomes provide up to 24 Circuit Boards, 12 Living Glass, and 12 Liquid Explosives.  It is also treated as my “main” base, where I typically end my game with the Save point up in the top floor of the observation tower.

Hovering high over the water, Sky Farm/Under Farm hides a large underwater section that contains the Storage Containers, a moon pool, power generation, additional refiners, and even some Nitrogen collection (for creating Nitrogen Salt), as well as a full 12 biodome farm.

The changes to planets in the Origins update were a boon to Sky Farm/Under Farm – there’s no longer any storms on the planet, so the base is now a very quiet, almost idyllic home.

Sulpherine Dream (New Tiboutint)

Sulpherine Dream
Sulpherine Dream

As the name of the base suggests, it is mainly for collecting Sulpherine gas (for creating Thermic Condensate), but also provides a little bit of Copper, as well as small section set aside for farming the local fauna, which contains multiple species that can provide Wild Milk.

Egg Basket (Ulde)

Egg Basket
Egg Basket

Created before Radon Love AI II (described below), Egg Basket‘s main purpose is to provide farming of eggs from the local fauna.  However, there’s also a nice Oxygen hotspot as well as a Magnetic Ferrite hotspot nearby.  As egg providing fauna also reside near the newest addition to the bases, the only reason this base will be retained is due to it’s place near two Archive buildings, as well as its placement in my home system.

System: [HUB3-99] Cookie Dough

Radon Love AI II (Daka Delta)

Radon Love AI II
Radon Love AI II

The original Radon Love AI base provided (as one would expect) Radon gas, as well as a very large AI mine.  Unfortunately, it was in a system not properly named on PS4, and as such, I undertook a search of the properly named O class Hub systems and came across this planet. Radon Love AI II is what I like to call a CSB – C Radon hotspot, S Activated Indium, and B Electromagnetic Power.   It also has the benefit of there being some egg laying fauna.  The downsides are the high radiation coupled with the frequent supercritical storms that occur, but this is offset by the (currently) 175,000 Activated Indium provided by the mine in just over 14 hours.  Visitors who appropriately explore the mine portion of the base will see that expansion (including the addition of more floors) is of course planned.  The downside is that, due to its raw size, the mine building, while completely enclosed, runs afoul of one of No Man’s Sky‘s more annoying bugs: even inside the mine, you’re subject to the weather conditions outside at random locations.

Radon is used for Enriched Carbon (which, along with Nitrogen Salt and Thermic Condensate, provides the “non-plant” materials for Fusion Ignitors/Stasis Chambers).  I don’t usually build them in bulk though so the gas collection doesn’t have to be fast, nor does it have to store a huge amount.

The Activated Indium mine doesn’t use any glitch building methods, and it tries to be as efficient as possible given the new “diminishing returns” mechanics for mines, so four Mineral Extractors feed to 24 Supply Depots.  To collect all the product produced, a visitor will have to run to each group of Supply Depots in turn.

System: [HUB10-6A] Quetzacoatl’s Sun

Old Cap Houseboat (Eniwa 68/L3 – also known as “New Lennon”)

Old Cap Houseboat

The original base on the old Galactic Hub capital wasn’t very close to Geomagnetic power and required a long stretching of base limits to reach it.  As such, the base was decommissioned, but a new base was built, more centrally located between the power “Foothold” was using, as well as Oxygen and Paraffinium hotspots.  It has some automatic doors that open usually only when the sun is up, and quietly sits floating at the surface for a relaxing getaway.

System: [HUB6-1B] Owdzangm XV

Bot’s Cove Cabana (Dogradur 426 – “New Cap”)

Bot's Cove Cabana
Bot’s Cove Cabana

Speaking of relaxing, the new Hub capital is home to Bot’s Cove Cabana, a cabana building set up for general waterside relaxing as well as the occasional night beach party.  Always open during the day, the majority of the walls of the cabana open up during sun-up automatically.  Tucked away elsewhere on the base are small copper and nitrogen mines.

System: [HUB1- (better known as [HUB1-E3] Twin Gardens)

Bot’s Valley Farm (Crum’s Folly/Kadannin)

Bot’s Valley Farm

The planet was a candidate for the new Galactic Hub capital, and was my primary pick during the election, so I decided to build a quiet little farm on it.  Alas, the vote went the other way, but I couldn’t part with the base.

System: Obanda-Suo (not in the Galactic Hub)

High Anxiety AI (High Peaks)

High Anxiety AI

While exploring systems and planets just outside the Galactic Hub, I came across an extremely high and sharp peak, and decided to climb it.  The tip was well over 600u from sea level.  After putting a small base right on top, I discovered that there was an Activated Indium hotspot right on it, and Geomagnetic power not too far away.  So, the base was redesigned to include a small AI mine.  A nuclear planet rocked by high energy storms, High Anxiety AI sits above the cloud layer, allowing visitors to look down upon the lightning strikes that accompany the storms.

System: [HUB4-147] Manhattan District

Underfarm (Oppenheimer) – DECOMMISSIONED

Underfarm
Underfarm

The Underfarm was a dream project given form – a (mostly) underwater base.  It provided 8 Circuit Boards, 4 Living Glass, and 4 Liquid Explosives.  I didn’t visit the base much, and since I managed to expand my main base to include a smaller version of Underfarm, I have since deleted this base.
