Bot’s Bases (mostly) in the Galactic Hub

There are some parts of No Man’s Sky that require having a base.  This kind of runs contrary to the original “purpose” in the game – to make it to the Center of the Galaxy.  However, a large portion of the player base doesn’t bother to move on, and instead choose to settle down on some planet they’ve stumbled across and build a base.  I’ve got six at this time, and I usually try to keep my base count low, only keeping a base if it has some (preferably not duplicated at another base) purpose.  Here they are.  Continue reading Bot’s Bases (mostly) in the Galactic Hub

Elite: Dangerous – Traveling to the Anaconda Graveyard

The “Anaconda Graveyard” is a spot on body 1 C of HD 76133.  It is so named because it was the final destination of a trip from which there was (originally) no returning from during the Distant Stars Expedition in 3303.  Midway into the trip, travelers are required to make a neutron boosted jump into a small cluster of stars some distance from the main body of the galaxy’s stars, from which there is no way for a normal ship to jump out of.  But now, with Fleet Carriers, it’s not an impossible trip to return from. PlayStation VR: Great! … With The Right Games …

So with VR announced for No Man’s Sky in the Beyond update, dropping somewhere close to my birthday, I had something to put on my list (along with an excuse to upgrade to a PS4 Pro).  For a good portion of NMS, VR is, quite simply, sublime.  But it’s not perfect. SUBNAUTICA: Survival Under The Sea

Subnautica is now out for the PS4.  I’d been looking forward to the promise of playing this game for some time after having watched a stream or two; as a former SCUBA diver, the idea of having to live under water isn’t necessarily something I’d object to.  Add in a decent story with mostly open play and some survival elements, and you’ve got my curiosity.  However … all is not well on the console port of the game.

NMS – VISIONS: Color Changes/Base Move

It’s always been about the blue and the view with me when it comes to my No Man’s Sky bases.  But the VISIONS update dropped recently, expanding the color palette for some planets, namely the “normal” ones.  So, what was green grass and blue seas and sky becomes red seas, brown water, and yellow grass.  This calls for a base move. “The Long Dark”: A Challenge In Survival

Okay, so I’m a gamer.  But it’s been a while since I’ve had a decent computer and I won’t play many FPS games on console.  But then the whole point of The Long Dark is not to shoot: it’s to survive.  And while it can be challenging and stressful, knowing that everything out there (including, to some extent, yourself) is trying to kill you makes surviving even just one more day rewarding. “Elite Dangerous” Screenshots: Exploration, New Ships, “The Oracle” Rescue

The view from Mitterand Hollow … well, briefly.

I visited one of the odd spots of the game, went on a short exploration trip to the “top” of the galaxy, bought a few new ships, and rescued some people from a station the Thargoids attacked.
