“No Man’s Sky” Update 1.3: Atlas Rises

I hope by the end of the post you don’t think I hate the game – that wouldn’t be true. It is fair to say that there’s a lot more negative I can say about this update and that the impact of the changes made has really hit home for someone who spent a lot of time putting effort in to both labeling the system and planet names in an informative manner, as well as contributing to the No Man’s Sky Wiki as part of the r/NMSGalacticHub Project. That doesn’t mean I think the update was a mistake or in any way ruined the game. However, some of the bugs and mechanics I’ve encountered at the very least have me hesitant to play much more until another bug fix update or two comes out. “Elite: Dangerous” – How To Not Be A FuelRat Client (And What To Do If You Become One)

There’s a better than an average chance that everything you’ll read here is also available somewhere on the FuelRats website.  But, writing these posts are as much a learning experience for me as it might be informative for you.  And if my post stops one person from needing our services (or at the very least, makes it easier on us to get to them), it was more than worth it. A Day With The “Thrustmaster T.Flight Hotas 4 Flight Stick for PS4 & PC”

Okay so for the rest of this post, I’m just going to call it “the HOTAS” or “joystick”.  It is, however, the only joystick I’m aware of that’s made for the PS4. Even then, it’s up to the game to support the HOTAS.  Elite: Dangerous supports this product, and actually does it fairly well.  Is it worth the $60 or more you’ll likely spend on it in addition to the $60 you’d spend (at this time) on Elite: Dangerous and the Horizons DLC?  That would depend on how much time you’ll be spending on Elite: Dangerous.  The HOTAS isn’t perfect, either; it certainly has a flaw or two that will make the more picky gamer out there positively hate the accessory.  Read on for a full review. So You Want To Go To The Galactic Hub In “No Man’s Sky”

I’ve been meaning to sit down and write an FAQ for both the Hub and No Man’s Sky for a while.  But, barring that, I’ve decided to start working on this guide instead.  It will cover things that might not actually be part of an FAQ.  When you want to go to the Galactic Hub, there’s some key concepts you need to know right off the bat.  A lot of this I’ve covered elsewhere, but not nearly as well organized. Continue reading So You Want To Go To The Galactic Hub In “No Man’s Sky”

No Man’s Sky – PathFinder Update! Good, and Bad

A new update to No Man’s Sky has dropped and it includes several new features, apparently fixes several bugs, but as would be not unexpected, introduces a few as well.  In addition, not all of the features are all that great.  For every change, there’s both a good aspect and a bad aspect.  And while a lot of what’s good or bad can be subjective, some of those opinions could be considered objective.

No Man’s Sky – Revisiting Old Discoveries: Why I Moved My Base

I know – with the lack of posts here, you’d think I’d have given up on gaming in general.  But no, I’m still dealing with my addiction to No Man’s Sky and my fascination with the Galactic Hub Project.  I’ve been trying not to be too lazy and at the very least adding pages to the Hub-used No Man’s Sky Wiki.  Thing is, this has me actually looking for old discoveries and revisiting old systems.  And it was this that made me move my base.
